Abstract:
The Nearctic and Neotropical species of Chrysocharis Förster have been revised. The genus have been divided into 11 species groups and each group has been diagnosed. 61 species have been recognized: 30 have a Holarctic distribution (one of them also in the Neotropical region), 23 are exclusively Nearctic, 5 have been found in both the Nearctic and Neotropical regions and 4 are exclusively Neotropical species. 18 of the species are described as new.The other exclusively Nearctic and Neotropical species have been redescribed. All species are keyed. 24 new synonyms have been established and 5 lectotypes have been designated. Hosts have been identified for 47 spceis; the host preferences for each species are shown in a table and discussed.
Geographi distribution is presented and discussed as well.
